Sadly we have to report that the lead was stolen from the roof of our village church on Sunday night which is causing great distress as it is estimated that it will cost in the region of £150,000 to repair the damage caused. Unfortunately the church is likely to receive only about £7,500 from an insurance claim which leaves an enormous fundraising challenge ahead.
A spokeswoman from Suffolk police said they believed the incident happened between 12.30pm on Sunday and 7am yesterday, with anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious urged to contact police on 101, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
