An Annual Parish Meeting is a legally mandated gathering for the electors of a parish in England to discuss local affairs, share information, and engage with their parish council.
Purpose and Function
The Annual Parish Meeting serves as a platform for local residents to discuss issues affecting their community. It is not a meeting of the parish council but rather a forum for electors to express their views, ask questions, and make suggestions regarding parish matters. The meeting allows residents to learn about the activities and plans of the parish council and to raise any concerns they may have.
Legal Requirements
• Timing: The meeting must be held annually between 1 March and 1 June, and it cannot start before 6 PM.
• Attendance: All residents of the parish are welcome to attend, but only registered electors can speak and vote during the meeting.
• Chairing: The meeting is typically chaired by the chairman of the parish council. If they are unavailable, the vice-chairman or another designated person may preside.
The next Combs Annual Parish Meeting is to be held at Battisford & District Cricket Club on Monday 11th May 2026, starting at 7pm. . Follow this link for the agenda
