St Mary's Church Combs
I rejoiced with those who said to me, "Let us go to the house of the LORD." Psalm 122:1
St Mary's is one of Suffolk's hidden gems because although it is visible from the distant A14, visitors approaching from Combs Ford often have great difficulty finding it. It stands alone, sedately away from from where many of its population live.
We approach St Mary's walking up the sloping churchyard. The church was built in front of Combs Hall which used to overshadow it. The current Combs Hall is a much smaller building hidden away behind the church.
Originally, we would have had to walk round to the south porch which was the main entrance. Now we enter through the north porch.
