Orchard Barn Heritage Afternoon

If you’ve read our news stories  on this website, you may be wondering what the site looks like. Now is your chance to find out! 

The Barn is opening its gates on Saturday 12th September 2015 from 1:45pm to 4:30pm. There will be talks, demonstrations and a guided tour, and it’s all free. 

An overview of the restoration of Orchard Barn will start at 2pm. This will be followed by a guided tour covering the Barn, the vegetable plot and the orchard as well as green woodworking area and large pond. 

The demonstrations will include:

  • Clay Render,
  • Deadwood Screens,
  • Making battens,
  • Garden bench construction,
  • Wattle & daub,
  • Hot water from sticks – Kelly kettle.

Tea and cakes will be available towards the end of the afternoon. As previously stated it is all free, though any donations to Orchard Barn will be very gratefully received.

Volunteers are welcome any Wednesday, we are SW of Mill Road, Battisford.
