Combs Parish Council funds and maintains numerous services and assets throughout Combs Village
Combs Cemetery, located on Church Road in Combs, has been open since 2001, and is managed and maintained by Combs Parish Council. Terms, Conditions, and the latest fees are listed on the website. The cemetery grounds are also home to our Beacon, which has been used on several occasions, including for Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations.
The Community Newsletter is published three times a year and distributed across Combs, Moats Tye, and Battisford, and posted on the website. Its funding comes from business advertising, with the remaining costs covered by Combs and Battisford Parish Councils.
There are two defibrillators funded by Combs Parish Council, located at The Tannery and Fenn Farmhouse. There is an additional one at Battisford Cricket Club.
The bus shelter on Park Road, opposite Ropers Row, also hosts our Book Swap.
The oak sign board next to the bus shelter is a recent addition. It has QR links to several interesting walks around the area. More details can be found under Village Life
The Combs Village sign is positioned at the intersection of Mill Lane, Park Road, and Bildeston Road. The original artwork serves as our village logo for letterheads and more.
There are 5 benches across the village, located in Mill Lane by Oak View; Bildeston Road by Adstone; Gilberts Hill triangle; Little London and Oaks Meadow. There are an additional 3 benches in the cemetery, one of which was kindly donated. A new addition to the village is a six-seater picnic bench on Gilbert Hill triangle; a lovely place to sit and admire the views!
The 5 noticeboards are primarily for Parish Council notices, but where space allows, we are happy to display posters advertising local events or businesses. Please contact the Clerk for further information.
We have 10 dog waste bins which are frequently emptied. They are located at:-
Bus Shelter
Tannery Road, adj Russet Gardens
Mill Lane (footpath by the Rectory)
Mill Lane (Oak View)
Entrance to Oaks Meadow
Scotches Corner
Little London, by Halfpenny Cottage
Moats Tye near the notice board
Footpath adjacent to Adstone
Park Road (footpath by Oak Tree House)
The 2 general rubbish bins are located at the bus shelter and on the footpath by Adstone, and again are frequently emptied.
The Parish Council is also responsible for the 2 speed indicator devices in the village. They are moved around several locations, including Park Road, Oaks Meadow, Moats Tye and Tannery Road. The data collected has been used on several different occasions to support speeding issues.
We have recently acquired 4 picket-style gates located on Poplar Hill and Tannery Road. These serve as a reminder to motorists that they are entering a village and to reduce their speed. Signage is currently under consideration.
Combs Parish Council is also responsible for 31 street lights. Please report any problems to clerk@combsparishcouncil.gov.uk
