Virtual Tour - The Communion Table

Jesus took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, "This is My body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of Me."

Luke 22:19

At the east end of the church stands the communion table. Ancient churches were usually 'orientated', which means the congregation faced east while worshiping, towards Jerusalem.

Jesus' command to 'do this in remembrance of me' has been obeyed down the centuries and across the world. In the communion service we receive the elements of Christ's body and blood as an act of taking Christ into our heart and life. We identify ourselves as followers and friends of Jesus.
