Virtual Tour - Triple Sedila and Piscina

To the right of the altar are the four matching cinquefoil arches of the Triple Sedila and Piscina, in which we see the beauty of the medieval stonework, which is intricately carved.

The sedila provided seats for the Celebrant, Deacon and Subdeacon during parts of the Communion Service in ancient times.

The Piscina drain (in the small arch) was for the disposal of water used for washing the priests hands before he consecrated the bread and wine.
